Overview

What does it take to be a top youth goalkeeper?  There are many factors playing their part, but the unavoidable answer is consistent training.  There is a formula, but also very few problems that can't be ironed out when given enough attention.  Any keeper who expects to progress faster than the rest must train more than the rest, and the training must be specifically appropriate.  Topics at hand must be addressed soon after they show themselves - there can be no back burner.   The Connecticut Goalkeeper Academy has been developed to offer this level of training by making the long term commitment to it's members.

The goal in the player/coach/parent relationship is for the goalkeeper to maximize potential, although college scholarships and self confidence have always been welcome byproducts.  Thorough goalkeeper training involves a variety of stimuli, through various mediums and coaches.  It is crucial that a keeper train multiple hours each week to stay sharp and develop, therefore Academy students will be required to make a large time commitment.  In return, Academy students will have access to nearly unlimited amounts of GK specific training with top GK coaches from around CT.  Academy home base will be the Keeper Factory in Milford, CT - a facility that ensures training conditions are as specific as possible to the position of goalkeeper as to best encourage learning.

One of the big hurdles in fulfilling this many training hours is the scheduling.  It is unrealistic to specifically lay out that many hours in advance, and expect there not to be conflicts.  Therefore, the Academy training hours at the Keeper Factory work like a gym membership.  Academy students arrive when they can, and leave when they must, as long as they fulfill their required hours each week.  During those Academy training hours, there will always be a plethora of activity, involving a rotation of many CT GK coaches, college and pro GKs, fitness coaches, nutritionists, etc.  The training scenarios are endless, and are sure to be fresh nightly.  A GK specific facility allows for much video training as well, with Academy keepers analyzing pros and themselves on TV regularly.

The goalkeepers appropriate for this type of Academy training must have 3 qualifications: superior genetics, high interest level, and extreme mental toughness.  This is for the kid who knows they are a keeper - no debate.  It's for the kid who can't get enough goalkeeping instruction, and loves no other sport nor position as a result.  When a specimen like that gets their fill of quality instruction, potential can be realized.

In a world where quality goalkeeper instruction is at a premium, Connecticut is rich in quality goalkeeper coaches.  Over time and exposure to a variety of them, any keeper can guarantee massive results.  For CT keepers with potential starting early, this is everything you'll ask for.
